Three tiers based on brand, construction quality, rarity, and trend relevance.
The single biggest factor in pricing. Stitched pieces command premium pricing.
Flat graphic applied via screen print or heat transfer. Standard construction. Common across fast-fashion and mass-market brands. Lower perceived value unless the design itself is rare or iconic.
Raised embroidered lettering and details. Indicates higher-quality manufacturing. Associated with premium vintage brands (A&F, Ralph Lauren). The texture and dimension signal authenticity and craftsmanship.
Condition can push an item UP or DOWN a tier. Context matters — vintage wear is not the same as damage.
Authentic vintage fade on premium brands. Natural distressing that tells a story. Sun-bleached colors on 90s pieces. These imperfections signal real age and authenticity — they can push an item UP a pricing tier.
Stains, tears, pilling, or heavy wear on generic brands. Damage that looks like neglect, not character. These push items DOWN in tier or straight to the donation / upcycle bin.
